Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join our team at American Family Insurance Agency Staff. As a key member of our risk management team, you will be responsible for leading and executing catastrophe risk management tasks and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and improve the framework of using catastrophe risk management software for data input, model set-up, model execution, result extraction, and loss analytics.
  • Lead discussions with business partners to identify their needs and propose initiatives.
  • Build dashboards to provide insights on catastrophe exposure growth utilizing catastrophe model output.
  • Employ portfolio and underwriting tools to assess perils exposures outside of traditional catastrophe vendor models.
  • Synthesize complex catastrophe loss results for practical application to business needs.
  • Develop analysis tools, reports, and data to understand the impacts of natural disasters on our business.
  • Lead the evaluation of newer versions of catastrophe management software and models, and explore industry best practices and business strategies in earth science technologies.
  • Participate in the selection of research tools and technologies, design a common research process, and brainstorm new opportunities and methodologies related to earth science.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Advanced knowledge of catastrophe management software and catastrophe peril models.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of natural catastrophe risk and its application to the insurance space and catastrophe modeling.
  • Solid knowledge of earth science and property insurance to perform complex financial, actuarial, or business analysis.
  • Solid understanding of geospatial software tools and data.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in programming languages suitable for database access, scripting, and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in using large amounts of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills to review complex products and/or lines of business.
  • Demonstrated experience in making independent decisions and project management methodologies, practices, techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and facilitating discussions with various team members.
