Position Overview


The Division of Mental Health is looking for a qualified Psychiatric Physician Specialist to provide comprehensive psychiatric and medical evaluations and treatments to patients. This role involves conducting thorough examinations, diagnosing conditions, and administering appropriate treatments while collaborating with a multidisciplinary treatment team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments for patients.
  • Document patient progress and treatment responses in medical records.
  • Lead the treatment team in developing and coordinating patient care plans.
  • Provide psychiatric guidance to other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in court testimony as required.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License.
  • American Board Certification in Psychiatry.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in evaluating specialized medical care for mental health patients.
  • Experience in coordinating medical services across various disciplines.
  • Proficiency in conducting psychiatric evaluations.
  • Ability to implement effective treatment plans based on best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in preparing detailed medical records and reports.

Conditions of Employment
  • Valid Illinois Controlled Substance License.
  • Valid United States Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate of Registration.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

Work Hours:
Monday-Friday, with flexible scheduling options.
