Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce relevant rules, regulations, and policies to maintain order and ensure the safety of youth and staff.
  • Escort youth in transit to and from facilities, as well as during temporary leaves.
  • Oversee youth during work assignments, meals, and recreation periods.
  • Guard facility entrances and screen visitors.
  • Inspect and maintain control of key logs, tools, and related equipment.
  • Patrol assigned areas and report any problems or incidents.
  • Prepare facility-related reports and maintain accurate records.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as any combination of training and experience that would enable you to meet the minimum standards of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.). You must also have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check.

Agency Requirements:

As a Juvenile Correctional Officer, you will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies as needed. You must be able to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with youth, staff, and law enforcement agencies.

Salary Increase Incentive:

GeorgiaGov offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a salary increase incentive for active duty service. If you have served in the military, you may be eligible for a salary increase of up to 10%.
