Overview:
The Logistics Technology Lead at Bayone is pivotal in steering the technical vision and integration of innovative logistics solutions.

This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to define architecture, gather requirements, and implement system solutions that enable rapid business feature deployment in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all project and program delivery related to warehouse management and logistics.
  • Organize teams and workflows for optimal efficiency in delivery.
  • Attract, select, and retain essential talent for the team.
  • Mentor team members in coding, development, and implementation skills.
  • Set clear, specific objectives for the team and provide regular performance feedback through one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Contribute as a member of the engineering leadership team in shaping and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Facilitate Communities of Practice in critical technologies.
  • Encourage continuous learning efforts for the team, focusing on key technologies and the business domain.
  • Estimate development efforts, allocate resources, and plan system implementations and rollouts.
  • Continuously enhance the Engineering organization to foster a positive work environment.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of essential systems and processes.
  • Guide engineers on company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Collaborate with the Product Management team to define and execute an effective backlog.
  • Lead the team in innovating technology and business concepts, promoting a test-and-learn mindset.
  • Oversee the implementation of application services, frameworks, automation, and infrastructure that support departmental projects.
  • Advance platform maturity in automation, operations, stability, and support.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and assess the relevance of new software tools for platform development.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or eight years of progressively responsible experience in software development.
  • Intermediate knowledge of business systems and technologies within the logistics domain, particularly with a focus on warehouse management systems.
  • Proven experience leading successful development initiatives.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate team members to reach their full potential.
  • Experience fostering teamwork and establishing trust among team members.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration methodologies and tools, including automated testing.
  • Strong expertise in software development practices, including source code management, code reviews, and adherence to standards.
  • Solid understanding of data management principles, including architecture, modeling, quality, security, and operations.
  • Experience with Distribution Centers and Warehouse Management Systems is essential.
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems and related tools is a plus.
  • Experience implementing warehouse management systems in new or existing distribution centers is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience and 8+ years in software development and delivery.

Preferred Skills:
  • Expertise in object-oriented design and development.
  • Proficiency in Java technologies, including J2EE and the Spring framework.
  • Understanding of web information architecture and REST principles.
  • Experience with service-oriented designs and techniques.
  • Familiarity with database technologies and interactions.
  • Ability to review and provide constructive feedback on proposed designs.
  • Skilled in crafting clear and concise messages for various audiences.
