Mental Health Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Consultant to join our team at Cornerstones of Care. As a key member of our team, you will provide consultation and support to building administrators, teacher support teams, and students and families at the preschool level.
Key Responsibilities- Provide consultation to building administrators and teacher support teams on issues related to mental health utilizing Conscious Discipline and other methods.
- Provide direct support to students and families at the preschool level experiencing social and emotional problems as indicated by assessed needs.
- Provide training and coaching to KCPS personnel and parents regarding trauma-informed interactions with students.
- Communicate with parents regarding mental health concerns regarding their child.
- Complete classroom observations regarding implementation of trauma-informed practices.
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
- Utilize the Devereaux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) to determine social and emotional needs and supports for preschool students.
- Develop treatment plans by establishing treatment goals with clients, determining treatment methodologies.
- Monitor progress toward treatment goals by evaluating and adjusting services provided.
- Identify and support students and families who would benefit from services over the summer to provide continuity of care.
- Facilitate treatment strategies, classroom support, play therapy, and referrals of other services as appropriate.
- Contribute to team effort by consulting with other professionals, accomplishing related results as needed.
- Interpersonal Skills/Teamwork: Work cooperatively and maintain professional relationships with co-workers and students/families to promote a harmonious work and team environment.
- Contribution to Corporate Culture: Make positive contributions to corporate culture by supporting overall mission, vision, and values of Cornerstones of Care.
- External Customer Service: Establish productive relationships with external people and organizations, promote program and mission to clients, referral sources, and potential external supporters.
- Ethics and Diversity: Adhere to agency code of ethics and professional standards, show sensitivity and respect for cultural and ethnic diversity of clients, staff, and other community members and groups.
- Attendance and Punctuality: Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Demonstrates and practices leadership skills.
- Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or as a licensed professional counselor seeking professional licensure (e.g. LMSW, PLPC, LMFT).
