JOB GOAL: The Multimedia Systems Specialist delivers technical expertise to support the mission of North Kansas City Schools. This role involves advising and assisting faculty, staff, and students in the design and utilization of audiovisual and multimedia equipment across various facilities. The position will contribute to the development of technology deployment strategies that align with the district's objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To successfully perform this role, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. - Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
- Instruct students, staff, and/or coaches in the operation of audiovisual/multimedia equipment in various settings including studios, gyms, fields, and classrooms.
- Offer guidance on audiovisual/multimedia setup or design, equipment acquisition, operation, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Support live event video streaming and broadcasting (e.g., board meetings, sports events, etc.).
- Design and/or modify equipment and materials to fulfill specific requirements.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of procedures and policies.
- Generate supply orders and negotiate with vendors as necessary.
- Provide budget estimates and reports.
- Conduct diagnostics, technical assessments, and administrative tasks related to planning, design, and installation of equipment and configurations.
- Ensure regular maintenance and updates of inventory.
- Oversee the upkeep of equipment, including cleaning and minor repairs, and arrange for repairs and preventive maintenance that cannot be handled in-house.
- Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders (e.g., administrators, teachers, engineers, technicians, managers) to provide and receive information, ensuring ongoing success.
- Coordinate efforts between infrastructure, technology support, network, and other departmental teams to facilitate effective communication and collaboration on audiovisual projects.
- Create and maintain documentation and records of all audiovisual systems in the district (e.g., designs, configuration files, IP addresses, how-to guides) to streamline troubleshooting, team cross-training, and preventive maintenance.
- Demonstrate basic networking knowledge for the installation and maintenance of advanced audiovisual control systems.
- Initiate and oversee warranty procedures for all equipment to provide support through product replacement.
- Manage daily work schedules based on current requests and incident workloads for effective time and project management.
- Monitor and implement critical firmware updates district-wide to ensure proper equipment functionality, security, and relevance.
- Oversee the incoming end-user incidents and requests within the audiovisual team to ensure prompt and responsible responses.
- Availability to provide support after hours and on weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.

EVALUATION: Performance in this role will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
