Job Title: Audio Visual Technician
Company: North Kansas City School District

The Audio Visual Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the district's faculty, staff, and students by providing technical expertise in the design and use of audio-visual and multimedia equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students in the use of audio-visual and multimedia equipment.
  • Instruct students, staff, and/or coaches in the effective use of audio-visual and multimedia equipment in various settings.
  • Offer advice on audio-visual and multimedia setup, design, equipment acquisition, operation, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Support live event video streaming and video broadcasting.
  • Design and adapt equipment and materials to meet specific needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures and policies.
  • Manage supply orders and negotiate with vendors as necessary.
  • Provide budget and estimate reports.
  • Perform technical assessments and administrative work involved in planning, design, and installation of equipment and related configurations.
  • Maintain inventory and update records regularly.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, including cleaning and minor repairs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties to provide and receive information and ensure ongoing success.
  • Coordinate work between infrastructure, technology support, network, and other department teams.
  • Create and maintain documentation and records of all audio-visual systems in the district.
  • Demonstrate basic networking knowledge for the installation and maintenance of advanced audio-visual control systems.
  • Initiate and monitor warranty procedures for all equipment.
  • Manage daily work schedule according to current request and incident workload.
  • Monitor and implement critical firmware updates district-wide.
  • Respond to incoming end-user incidents and requests.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience and demonstrable knowledge of design, installation, use, maintenance, and support of audio-visual and multimedia systems.
  • Knowledge and certificates required to service Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, and other components.
  • Knowledge of, and skill in, using supported applications and their design, theories, principles, practices, and usage of computer and audio-visual hardware and software.
  • Serve as instructor for staff on audio-visual technology techniques, applications, and utilization.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects successfully.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • The ability to work and coordinate in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Ability to communicate problems with supervisor(s) as they become known.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Working Conditions:

The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

Physical Demands:

The individual who holds this position must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and use of a ladder.
