Role Description for Youth Mental Health Outreach Facilitator

Ideal for Retired Educators

The Youth Mental Health Outreach Facilitator is a part-time position responsible for training students, educators, parents, and community members using evidence-based suicide prevention programs. Training sessions are conducted during school hours, Monday through Friday, with a flexible schedule based on school needs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver in-person training sessions on the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program for middle and high schools in the St. Louis Metro Area.
  • Collect, manage, and submit all necessary program documentation to fulfill program requirements.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records as required by funding agencies.
  • Ensure training sessions are executed with fidelity and uphold the highest quality standards.
  • Stay informed about suicide prevention, depression, self-injury, and mental health topics.
  • Achieve or surpass individual program goals and outcomes for the SOS initiative.
  • Keep updated on program modifications as communicated by leadership.
  • Foster and sustain positive relationships with school staff, faculty, and students.
  • Advocate for SOS and Family Support services as well as Social Emotional Wellbeing Programs to school administrators and stakeholders.
  • Participate in agency and program meetings regularly.
  • Support community awareness campaigns related to suicide and depression as needed.
  • Maintain a 75% impact efficiency rate.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Program Manager.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, mental health, or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of experience in educational or mental health settings is preferred.
  • Engaging and energetic demeanor to connect with youth, parents, and educational institutions.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
  • Understanding and empathy regarding issues of suicide, anxiety, and depression.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; public speaking or teaching experience is advantageous.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to CHADS' mission.
  • Desire to work in a results-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Canva, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Availability to conduct training sessions during school hours, with flexibility for scheduling.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfort speaking in front of groups.
  • Access to reliable transportation for assignments.

The Youth Mental Health Outreach Facilitator is a part-time role typically operating Monday through Friday during school hours. Occasional evening commitments may arise. This position reports to the SOS Program Manager.
