Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Gui Steakhouse. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring that food is prepared safely, efficiently, and according to specifications or request.

Responsibilities

  • Cooperative Management: Manage the back-of-house team operation, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Customer Service: Greet, interact, and communicate with customers on a regular basis, explaining the menu and providing exceptional service.
  • Training and Development: Train the team to uphold company policies and standards, ensuring that all team members are equipped to provide excellent service.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the stocking, ordering, and purchasing of ingredients, ensuring that necessary ingredients are available and as fresh as possible while minimizing spoilage and waste.
  • Kitchen Operations: Oversee the operations of the kitchen and back-of-house, ensuring that food is prepared safely, efficiently, and according to specifications or request.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that the kitchen runs in accordance with all applicable health, safety, and hygiene codes and standards.
  • Menu Development: Work with the Executive Chef to create and modify the restaurant's menu based on food trends, food costs, patron requests, and seasonal availability.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and inspect kitchen equipment and utensils, recommending repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Compliance: Maintain and ensure compliance with all regulations of New York City's health and safety protocol.

Qualifications

  • Availability: Open-availability including all major holidays.
  • Experience: 2+ years of high-volume kitchen management experience.
  • Passion for Food: A genuine passion and knowledge for food and Korean cuisine.
  • Communication Skills: A strong sense of urgency and strong communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Able to take constructive criticism, learn quickly, and constantly improve.
  • Attention to Detail: Must be meticulously clean and aware of all food safety standards.
