Job Summary:

Penske is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic II to join our team. As a Technician II at Penske, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on our fleet of vehicles.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair: Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers, performing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner.
  • Component Repair: Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Keep your work area clean and safe.
  • Tool Utilization: Use Penske's tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
  • Training and Development: Learn new skills through Penske's technician training.
  • Additional Tasks: Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Specialized Training: Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred).
  • Tool Proficiency: Experienced using tools of the trade (including diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools).
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license required.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to solve problems.
  • Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Physical Demands: Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
  • Regulatory Compliance: The associate will be required to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.
  • Safety: The associate must be able to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including but not limited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice.
  • Attendance: Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Driver Qualification File: As this position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualification file to be maintained as required by the role.
