The Facility Building Engineer oversees daily functions and conducts preventative maintenance on machinery at the designated site. This role involves managing processes that utilize hazardous and volatile substances under elevated temperatures and pressures. Facility Building Engineers encounter diverse working conditions, including exposure to outdoor weather, airflow, heat, noise, vibrations, and occasionally working at heights or in confined spaces. Adherence to safe work practices is paramount, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required. Operations are continuous, running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering a broad spectrum of responsibilities and opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prioritize personal safety and the safety of colleagues, promptly reporting any safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Complete assigned job-specific training and consistently demonstrate responsible operation of plant and equipment.
  • Maintain the central plant in optimal condition, capable of starting up, shutting down, and ensuring equipment is in good working order.
  • Familiarize oneself with Chill Water Plant operations and assist in daily management.
  • Troubleshoot issues within central plant and building systems.
  • Act as a first responder for various building maintenance requests.
  • Analyze complex tasks while prioritizing safety.
  • Ensure timely completion of PM work orders, either independently or with contractor assistance as needed.
  • Work rotating shifts as assigned, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Complete Phillips 66 safety training, including hands-on fire extinguisher training and other safety-related courses.
  • Carry out PM work orders with minimal supervision.
  • Engage actively with the team to achieve collective goals.
Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Possess a valid Texas driver's license.
  • Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys in relation to power plants or central plant environments.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in High Rise Building operations, with comprehensive knowledge of building systems, fire alarm systems, utility services, and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Understanding of various equipment maintenance and operations, including chillers, compressors, controls, automated valves, and general plant processes.
  • Proficient with hand tools and knowledgeable about hand tool safety.
  • Willingness and ability to comply with the following requirements:
    • Work rotating 12-hour shifts as assigned.
    • Work overtime as needed.
    • Climb ladders and lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Work in confined spaces and near large, hot, high-speed machinery.
    • Handle chemicals safely.
    • Wear Fire Retardant Clothing and personal protective equipment such as safety eyewear, gloves, hard hats, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes.
    • Maintain a clean-shaven face for proper respirator fit.
    • Work outdoors in challenging weather conditions.
    • Learn software related to High Rise Building operations.
    • Occasionally bend, squat, kneel, or stand on knees.
    • Walk varying distances and reach in different planes while maneuvering in tight spaces.
    • Perform repetitive tasks, such as opening and closing valves.
    • Climb steps and other structures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Process Technology, HVAC Trade School, or related fields.
  • Journeyman's license in a relevant maintenance field.
  • Experience in building maintenance or power plant operations.
