Job Summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a skilled Nursing Professional Development Specialist to join our team. As a facilitator of learning, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, and partner for practice transition, you will play a critical role in improving the healthcare practice of learners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and experience in education, with a focus on developing and implementing education programs that align with unit/department goals and current evidence-based practice recommendations.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of healthcare professionals and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Identify practice gaps of clinical unit staff by systematically collecting data and information to analyze issues, trends, and outcomes.
  • Prioritize data collection based on immediate or anticipated needs.
  • Develop and implement education programs that address identified practice gaps.
  • Support ongoing assessment and evaluation of the skills, knowledge, abilities, and judgment of licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel.
  • Document and support competency, and address competency deficits in staff members and teams.
Requirements
  • WA state RN license.
  • BSN or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience.
  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development within two years of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as an educator and relevant clinical experience.
  • Certification in nursing clinical specialty area.
