STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Overview of Job Classification:
This role entails supervising and managing the daily functions of a designated team within the Clerk's Office or court division.

Responsibilities:
The individual in this position will oversee staff in the county court division, specifically within the criminal intake division, the Traffic/Small Claims division, and personnel covering weekend bond hearings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To successfully execute this role, the individual must be capable of performing the essential functions outlined below. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. The frequency and percentage of time may vary based on specific assignments.

  1. Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including task assignment and prioritization, providing guidance and coaching, participating in hiring and termination processes, and conducting performance evaluations.
  2. Contributes to policy formulation and updates procedures in accordance with new regulations and legislation.
  3. Delivers internal and external customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns. Acts as a liaison and coordinates modifications in court operations.
  4. Prepares legal documents and reports. Monitors, reviews, and ensures efficient and effective case processing.
  5. Performs administrative duties including case management data entry, reviewing case entries, conducting advanced research on complex cases, processing warrants, and managing accounts receivable.
  6. Oversees and schedules juror summons and addresses juror correspondence and requests.
  7. Identifies and executes projects that enhance the Court's capacity to effectively serve the community. Participates in committee work and management meetings.
  8. Completes mandatory training and attends meetings as required.
  9. Performs additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role requires overseeing and assessing the performance of a regular group of employees (1 or more full-time employees), including providing input on hiring and disciplinary actions, setting work objectives, conducting performance evaluations, and adjusting workloads as necessary. The majority of tasks performed by employees are semi-complex.

HUMAN COLLABORATION:
Interactions may lead to decisions regarding policy implementation. Contact may involve supporting controversial positions or negotiating sensitive issues. Engagements may include stressful interactions with the public, necessitating high levels of tact and the ability to manage aggressive interpersonal exchanges. The impact of these interactions is limited.

FREEDOM TO ACT & IMPACT OF ACTIONS:
Receives Limited Direction
Employees typically perform assignments based on their judgment, seeking supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with minimal oversight, and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance is evaluated periodically, and the impact of actions is significant.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
May involve responsibilities related to billing, collection, and/or accounting of funds. May also entail handling and balancing cash.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Equivalency:
High School diploma or G.E.D.

OR

Additional relevant work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education.

Work Related Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in court, legal, or administrative services.

Licenses and Certifications:
None.

PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly needing to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are considered sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Good - Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.

WORK LOCATION:
Office or similar indoor environment.
