The Senior Operating Room Nurse serves as a highly skilled role model in professional nursing, with specialized expertise in clinical practice, education, and evidence-based practices. This senior position guides the unit through complex evidence-based practices and process improvements, collaborating with management to foster a culture of excellence in nursing and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the daily operating room schedule.
  • Managing staffing logistics, including scheduling and absences.
  • Supervising service lines for vendor management and procurement of supplies.
  • Processing bi-weekly payroll.
  • Conducting performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Exhibiting adherence to system-wide competencies and behaviors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience; BS/BSN required, with a master's degree in nursing or a related field if the BS degree is not in nursing.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills related to patient care.
  • Physical stamina for frequent mobility and patient handling.
  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse, with UPMC-approved nursing certification required within one year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
