Spanish-Speaking Study Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Utah Children's Project, as part of the ECHO Program, is seeking a highly skilled Spanish-speaking Study Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Utah Children's Project/ECHO Program, with a focus on working with diverse racial/ethnic groups, including Hispanic/Latino populations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the recruitment and enrollment process of program participants, particularly from diverse racial/ethnic groups, including Hispanic/Latino populations.
- Work on all aspects of the project that involve interacting with subjects and collecting data and samples, with an emphasis on working with participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Assist the Principal Investigator and research team in achieving study integrity and objectives through the successful implementation and completion of protocols and procedures.
- Prepare study materials, communicate with families, collect data, handle post-visit specimens, and perform other tasks related to project objectives.
- Coordinate the daily operation of all assigned research activities, including recruitment, informed consent, study mailings, online surveys, in-person data collection, and follow-up of study participants.
- Recruit potential study participants at community outreach events and present study information at community events to conduct recruitment, particularly from diverse and Spanish-speaking populations.
- Utilize the study database to track participant and data collection flow.
- Develop and implement study informatics and tracking tools.
- Communicate with study participants in Spanish or English to obtain or update informed consent, collect and verify data, answer project-related questions, and verify receipt/completion of study materials.
- Conduct in-person and virtual study visits, including obtaining anthropometric measurements, cognitive assessments, biospecimen samples, and survey data.
- Ensure proper collection, processing, and shipment of specimens.
- Manage study visit equipment and clinic space.
- Assist with maintenance and calibration of study and lab equipment.
- Carry and transport study equipment and materials.
- Assess protocol for clarity, review inclusion/exclusion criteria, and clarify concerns and questions with the Research Manager and/or Clinical Research Coordinator.
- Create, review, and edit research project-specific documents, such as standard operating procedures (SOPs) and participant materials.
- Review and edit Spanish documents and translate English documents to Spanish.
- Comply with protocol, manage quality control, completion reports, and submission of study-related documentation, and prepare reports for project management.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, advise the team regarding specific study assignments and timelines, and maintain relationships and communications with other research sites.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Recognize, track, and report adverse events (AEs) and protocol deviations, and report serious AEs to the research managers, principal investigators, and IRB.
- Maintain IRB and other project training and certifications.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Spanish fluency (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Demonstrated experience focused on multicultural diverse populations and working with diverse interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to function independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software programs.
- Ability to effectively work in private home environment with internet access as needed and/or in office to meet study needs.
- Experience working with diverse populations such as Hispanic/Latino population in Utah.
- Ability to monitor complex recruitment and follow-up simultaneously and manage time to meet deadlines.
- Ability to create a team-based environment and demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.
- Ability to come to well-reasoned conclusions, solutions, and approaches to problems.
New Hire Training Requirements:
- IRB CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research subjects certificate obtained within the first month of hire.
- Bloodborne pathogen training obtained within the first month of hire.
- USU compliance training within two months of hire.
- Some departments may require IATA DGR training within six months of hire.

Advertised Salary: Minimum $40,000; commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits.

Incumbents may often use repetitive hand motions (such as typing), walk, carry study equipment up to 30 pounds, bend, reach, or kneel to work with small protect our patients, coworkers, and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy.
