Opportunity Overview

WSP is embarking on a search for a Lead Transportation Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will collaborate with a dynamic group focused on delivering innovative transportation solutions and enhancing our operations in the Northeast.

Your Role

  • Serve as the Principal Engineer for transportation projects across various regions.
  • Conduct comprehensive technical evaluations for a diverse array of transportation infrastructure and development initiatives.
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Execute traffic impact assessments, including data gathering and capacity analysis utilizing advanced traffic engineering software.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support a wide range of projects.
  • Design and implement traffic signal systems and timing plans.
  • Prepare detailed documentation, including reports and memoranda for studies and designs.
  • Utilize traffic engineering tools and software for modeling and analysis.
  • Develop plans and specifications for traffic control devices.
  • Demonstrate expertise in traffic signal design.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant guidelines and standards.
  • Utilize design software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
  • Foster relationships with project management, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Understand ADA Standards for compliance in pedestrian facilities.
  • Uphold ethical standards and responsible decision-making in all professional conduct.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation engineering and planning.
  • Proven experience working with various clients, including governmental and private sectors.
  • Must possess eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility to accommodate project-specific schedules.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license in New York or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is advantageous.
  • Experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design.
  • Familiarity with analytical data tools.
