Job OverviewPosition Summary

Lerner Tower 4 specializes in providing comprehensive care for patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions. This unit encompasses three levels of care: intermediate, telemetry, and general floor care. Our Neuroscience Nurses are adept at guiding patients and their families through new diagnoses and the complexities that may arise from neurological disorders.

The neuro intermediate care unit (NIU) delivers a distinctive level of care, bridging the gap between telemetry/floor care and intensive care unit (ICU) services.

Our patient population includes a wide range of neurological conditions, such as various types of strokes, intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhages, neuromuscular disorders, epilepsy, and rare neurological diseases like prion disease. Many patients also present with additional medical conditions, including diabetes and hypertension.

Lerner Tower 4 has received the Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and is recognized by the Joint Commission and the American Heart/American Stroke Association for delivering exceptional care to stroke patients in a quaternary care setting.

Role Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide safe and efficient nursing care tailored to the age-specific needs of patients and their families, utilizing the nursing process to help them achieve and maintain optimal health.

Key Duties Include:

  • Implementing the nursing process through effective, relationship-based care.
  • Exhibiting technical proficiency in care delivery that ensures safety and positive patient outcomes.
  • Communicating clearly and collaborating effectively to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Engaging in personal development and contributing to the nursing profession.
  • Demonstrating leadership that fosters optimal clinical and operational results.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performing other assigned duties.
  • Adhering to all policies and standards.
  • Referencing specific duties and responsibilities as outlined during orientation.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations for the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Qualifications

New graduate RNs accepting a position with Lerner Tower 4 are eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus and the Loan Repayment program offering up to $15,000. Please inquire for further details.

Educational Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, BSN, or MSN)

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proficient understanding of nursing processes and practices.
  • Ability to utilize various technical equipment to meet patient needs and deliver prescribed therapies.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio and/or Multi-State Compact License (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required based on clinical area standards.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required based on clinical area standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Constant communication and coordination of movements.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
