Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

2. Monitor, document, and communicate patient status effectively.
3. Assess and adjust care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
4. Act as the primary liaison among various healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
5. Administer medications and treatments as per nursing protocols.
6. Execute physician and nursing directives diligently.
7. Collaborate with the healthcare team to evaluate discharge planning needs.
8. Identify and address the educational needs of patients and their families, considering cultural and individual factors.
9. Deliver appropriate educational resources and validate understanding among patients and families.
10. Engage in continuous professional development through formal and informal educational opportunities.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Qualifications:
Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Licensure and Certifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state is required.
Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory upon hiring.
For those in critical care settings, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA is required within the first year of employment.
RNs in specialized areas such as Children's Hospital must achieve Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within one year of hire, while those in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit must obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Completion of the ONS Chemo/Bio course is necessary within two years for those working in chemotherapy administration.
In Emergency Departments, ACLS and PALS certifications are required within specified timeframes.
All registered nurses in oncology settings must obtain cancer-specific certification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying education as per accreditation requirements.

Work Complexity:
This role necessitates strong critical thinking abilities, decisive judgment, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. The ability to function effectively in high-pressure environments is essential.

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of one year of recent acute care nursing experience in a hospital setting is required. Relevant experience in skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation, or emergency departments is also acceptable.

Physical Demands:
The position requires a full range of motion, including the ability to lift and maneuver patients, as well as manual dexterity and coordination. Extended periods of standing and walking are necessary, along with the ability to work under stress and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids is inherent to the role.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Adherence to standard precautions and the use of personal protective equipment is required as necessary.
