Tucson, Arizona, United States The Outreach Team Full time
Position Overview

About The Outreach Team

The Outreach Team is a leading national field organization dedicated to collaborating with entities addressing significant societal challenges, including the protection of human rights and environmental sustainability. Our effectiveness stems from our commitment to a diverse workforce, investing in our personnel, and fostering a supportive work environment.

We are actively seeking Field Directors to spearhead a crucial campaign aimed at safeguarding access to reproductive healthcare. This initiative involves engaging with community members through direct outreach efforts. The current climate necessitates a strong defense of reproductive rights, including abortion access, contraceptive services, paid family leave, and comprehensive pregnancy care. Our organization mobilizes advocates to ensure that reproductive rights are upheld and expanded.

Field Directors will be responsible for recruiting, training, and overseeing a team of local canvassers who will engage with residents about the status of reproductive healthcare access. This role requires leading by example through active canvassing, while also communicating campaign objectives and managing reporting processes. Field Directors will supervise canvassers and Team Leads, reporting directly to the Lead Director.

In addition, the Lead Campaign Director will oversee a team of two Deputy Directors and will play a pivotal role in establishing an operational office from the ground up.

Immediate Hiring

Location: Candidates from the local area are preferred, with potential for short-term travel as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of 15-20 hourly staff focused on gathering signatures in support of reproductive rights.
  • Establish performance goals and ensure accountability among team members.
  • Provide training and continuous support to enhance staff motivation.
  • Identify and cultivate a leadership team within the canvassing staff.
  • Foster a diverse and respectful team culture that emphasizes equity and justice.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain the integrity of campaign efforts.
  • Engage in fieldwork several days a week to gather signatures, train staff, and help achieve campaign objectives.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all team members.
  • Develop strategic outreach plans to engage registered voters in designated areas.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including data reporting, record maintenance, payroll processing, and material distribution.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and manage a large team.
  • Willingness to lead by example through regular canvassing.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to instill this quality in others.
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Deep commitment to community organizing and civic engagement.
  • Demonstrated track record of promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing paid canvassing operations or overseeing paid staff.
  • Familiarity with voter outreach tools.
  • Background working in underserved or marginalized communities.
  • Facilitation skills.
  • Local knowledge and experience.
Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from $1,200 to $1,400 per week. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, health insurance, and hands-on training opportunities. There may also be prospects for advancement and bonuses at the conclusion of the campaign.

The Outreach Team is committed to equity and inclusion. We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups.
