Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation Management
- Update carrier pricing in the Transportation Management System (TMS) using data from the Master Rate Access File to ensure precise freight costs.
- Establish and manage automated carrier dispatch processes within the TMS to facilitate shipment tenders.
- Provide training to carriers on TMS dispatch functionalities and assist with password resets as needed.
- Support plant personnel in resolving TMS-related issues.
- Monitor and analyze daily SAP Unrated Reports to identify and rectify shipment rating discrepancies.
- Assist in transitioning railroad pricing structures as needed.
Sales and Customer Engagement
- Generate rate quotes for Sales and Customer Service by sourcing carrier quotations when necessary, and input new rates into the TMS for future reference.
- Compile quarterly expenditure reports to aid in customer pricing evaluations linked to escalation agreements.
- Engage in supply chain discussions to address logistics-related challenges impacting plant operations.
- Foster relationships with motor carriers and support plants in securing transportation solutions.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Create Power BI dashboards that provide actionable insights, such as freight profitability metrics.
- Conduct freight cost analyses to uncover potential savings.
- Lead or participate in initiatives aimed at cost reduction, including demurrage management and spot quote evaluations.
Rail Fleet Management
- Produce daily fleet reports for all plants using data extracted from the Rail Fleet Access File.
- Maintain records of tank car testing schedules and coordinate maintenance activities with car owners.
- Collaborate with the Rail Fleet Access team to ensure efficient car routing.
- Review daily reports to ensure proper car movement and correct any misrouted shipments.
- Verify accuracy of lease and repair invoices, coding them for payment processing.
- Assist in fleet sizing and the integration of new rail cars into operations.
- Work with plants and railroads to minimize demurrage costs.
- Support customer inquiries related to railcar demurrage.
Compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations
- Become a subject matter expert on compliance with USDOT regulations.
- Review and update training materials as necessary.
- Deliver on-site training programs for plant personnel on a regular basis.
- Maintain comprehensive training records across all plants using a database system.
- Guide plants in achieving compliance for non-standard shipments.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Rail, Truckload, Intermodal, or Bulk logistics environment on a national scale.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Word). Experience with SAP, Power BI, and TMS is advantageous.
- Experience in handling sensitive and confidential information.
Environmental Health and Safety Responsibilities
Promote and demonstrate a commitment to safety and health as the top priority. Participate in risk assessment audits as required. Understand and implement PQ Principles (PQP) within the organizational framework. Complete all necessary HSE training in a timely manner.
