Job Title: Facilities Engineer

Medix is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our facility systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment and System Support: Troubleshoot equipment and systems to resolve deviations, implement corrective actions, and address manufacturing or quality issues.
  • Process Monitoring: Track and evaluate process trends and issues in collaboration with quality, process research and development, and manufacturing teams.
  • Procurement and Validation: Assist in the procurement, installation, startup, and validation of systems and equipment.
  • Procedural Improvements: Participate in the implementation of procedural enhancements for operational efficiency.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure safety protocols and training (e.g., LOTO, Arc Flash) are adhered to for both personnel and equipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company guidelines, including Quality, Human Relations, Health & Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Building Systems Expertise: Maintain thorough knowledge of building systems operations, maintenance, and repairs, with a focus on plant utilities, HVAC, and building management systems.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance for diagnosing equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, assisting with repairs, and relocating equipment as needed.
  • Maintenance Planning: Develop and execute job plans and work procedures, including Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs, and manage service agreements.
  • Utility Optimization: Coordinate the availability and efficiency of utilities equipment in alignment with production goals, utilizing data analysis to drive both short-term and long-term strategies.
  • Facilities Strategy: Define and implement strategies for facility operations with a focus on equipment criticality and sustainability.
  • SOP Development: Create and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for building systems and facility-related equipment.
  • Asset Management: Maintain a centralized register of all critical plant, site facilities, equipment, and machinery.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee contractors and service vendors to support utilities, buildings, tooling, and processing equipment, including new and existing infrastructure.
  • Maintenance Management: Utilize maintenance management systems to schedule and conduct repairs, preventive maintenance, and calibrations, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive process and procedural improvements in alignment with lean manufacturing principles and DBS fundamentals.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Lead energy efficiency and sustainability projects to reduce environmental impact.
  • Ethical Conduct: Perform all duties in a compliant and ethical manner, adhering to applicable regulations and industry standards.
  • Cost Management: Maintain a focus on cost efficiency, budget adherence, operational performance, and spare parts management.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in building operations, engineering, and systems maintenance, with at least 3 years in a facility engineering role.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and facility drawings is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient project management skills with knowledge of construction principles, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing facilities.
