Job Title: Controller

Join the Inland Empire Utilities Agency as a Controller and take on a challenging role that requires strategic thinking, leadership, and financial expertise. As a key member of our Finance Department, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the daily operations of our Accounting Unit.

About the Role:

The Controller will oversee the accounting functions, including accounts payable, payroll, project accounting, fixed assets, accounts receivable, general ledger, and grant accounting. You will work closely with our management team to develop and implement financial plans, policies, and procedures that align with our agency's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, and direct the daily operations of the Accounting Unit
  • Oversee the accounting functions, including accounts payable, payroll, project accounting, fixed assets, accounts receivable, general ledger, and grant accounting
  • Develop and implement financial plans, policies, and procedures
  • Work closely with management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on financial matters
  • Lead and direct staff to achieve high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in finance, accounting, business, or public administration
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in performing complex financial, statistical, treasury, and budgetary analyses
  • Three years of experience at a management or supervisory level
  • Valid California Class C driver's license and ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Master's in Public Administration, and Certified Public Finance Officer certification are highly desirable
