The Hutchins School of Liberal Studies at Sonoma State University is a distinguished interdisciplinary institution within the Arts & Humanities. Position Summary
We are seeking candidates for temporary, part-time lecturer positions within our department. Ideal applicants will possess expertise across multiple academic disciplines and have experience in both seminar-based and large lecture formats. We are particularly interested in individuals with backgrounds in ethnic studies, literature, composition, education, child development, psychology, sociology, history, or science education.
Teaching Responsibilities
Selected candidates may be required to teach various courses, including but not limited to:
1. Teacher track service courses such as LIBS 304, 'We Hold These Truths,' LIBS 312, 'Schools in American Society,' LIBS 327, 'Literacy, Language, and Pedagogy,' LIBS 330, 'The Child in Question,' and LIBS 392, 'Performing Arts for Children.'
2. Courses in the Hutchins General Education Program (LIBS 100, 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, and 204), with a focus on writing support, first-year transition, and ethnic studies.
3. Core seminars on science in society or science education (LIBS 320B), exploring the interplay between science, technology, and societal issues.
Qualifications
Required:
- A Master's degree (M.A. or M.S.) or higher in any relevant field, including arts, humanities, social sciences, or sciences.
- A minimum of one year of teaching experience.
- Demonstrated pedagogical skills relevant to the courses outlined above.
Compensation
This is a part-time, temporary faculty position with a workload of 15 units per semester. Salary will be determined based on the number of units assigned, educational qualifications, and available funding, in accordance with the CSU system faculty contract salary increases. The anticipated salary range is $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month, commensurate with degree level and experience.
