Position Overview
The Lead Mechanic role at Herc Rentals is designed for individuals with exceptional mechanical skills who can effectively support branch operations in a professional and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Mechanic, your duties will include:

  • Conducting major repairs on equipment utilizing hand tools, machine tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Assigning and overseeing tasks for the mechanics team.
  • Monitoring work orders and ensuring timely completion.
  • Addressing customer complaints and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Collaborating closely with the Branch Manager/Shop Supervisor to enhance service department efficiency and profitability.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting various systems including fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane.
  • Performing routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, and more.
  • Reconditioning and replacing parts of heavy equipment.
  • Operating and testing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Producing detailed service reports and repair logs.
  • Building positive relationships with customers.
  • Working both in the shop and in the field as necessary.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities to guide a team.
  • Experience in equipment, automotive, mechanical, or industrial fields is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Diesel Laptop systems is an asset.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position ranges from $39 to $48 per hour, based on experience. Herc Rentals offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
