Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Secretary to join our Pediatric Rheumatology team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support to our physicians and department, ensuring the smooth operation of our office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and conferences for departmental personnel using interdepartmental and hospital-wide computerized scheduling systems.
  • Enter inpatient and outpatient professional charges on the medical billing system.
  • Compose and prepare correspondence, utilizing knowledge of medical terminology to transcribe patient information.
  • File reports, prepare documents, and forward correspondence.
  • Prioritize calls through the screening process, transfer calls, record messages, and deliver to appropriate personnel.
  • Review, screen, and distribute daily mail correspondence to appropriate personnel.
  • Order office supplies and maintain inventory.
  • Maintain up-to-date departmental manuals and files.
  • Assist in the coordination of special projects.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
