Executive Chef

Ema, a Mediterranean restaurant in Chicago's River North, is seeking a Chef de Cuisine with 2 years of chef experience. We offer a competitive salary, quarterly bonus, paid time off, 401(k), and medical insurance.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the opening shift process, including food orders, inventory, and price updates.
- Direct and ensure effective BOH operations, including food prep and cooking, inventory management, and supervising kitchen employees.
- Provide guidance and leadership to hourly and management teams while fostering our Culture of Caring.
- Track and control food cost, and purchase and order food product and supplies for the restaurant.
- Partner with the General Manager to create prep lists and assign production duties to BOH staff.
- Perform regular line checks to ensure quality of all menu items.
- Partner with the General Manager to review and maintain recipe books.
- Ensure effective communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
- Partner with the General Manager to interview, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and develop BOH employees and teams.
- Model and promote teamwork across all teams.
- Use tact and good judgment when dealing with challenges pertaining to guests, vendors, and employees.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Chef de Cuisine experience in a full-service restaurant.
- Ability to lead and develop teams.
- Skilled in managing BOH systems.
