Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Research and Development Specialist to join our team at Yale School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and evaluating performance and reliability of test equipment, determining types and number of tests to be performed on equipment, and recommending modifications to testing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and evaluates performance and reliability of test equipment.
  • Determines types and number of tests to be performed on equipment.
  • Recommends modifications to testing equipment.
  • Analyzes results.
  • Uses blueprints, sketches, and schematics.
  • Instructs laboratory support staff in construction and modification techniques.
  • Develops time and cost estimates, material requirements, and methodology.
  • Orders materials and supplies.
  • May set up and operate machinery, hand and power tools, and other equipment for the fabrication, testing, and modification of instruments, equipment, components, and systems.
  • May oversee support staff.

Requirements:

  • Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education.
  • Four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree.
  • Little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with RF coil design in MRI or related fields, particularly for low frequency.
  • Proven experience with RF coil construction and system integration, including both single and multichannel coils.
  • Expertise in receive and transmit chain electronics, both design and fabrication.
  • Excellent team player, ability to collaborate, and communicate effectively in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in integration of multiple design elements in completing a system application.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to keep on track and meet deadlines, provide feedback on process, yielding high productivity.

Working Conditions:

The work will be in-person, onsite, at the Yale MRRC, 300 Cedar Street, New Haven, CT.
