About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Intervention Specialist to join our team at the Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations. As a key member of our inpatient behavioral health team, you will play a vital role in providing 24/7 resident-centered care to adolescents with co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Redirect behaviors involving risk of physical harm to self or others or the destruction of property.
  • Complete daily written reports within the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system for each client, documenting client successes and concerning behaviors.
  • Provide on-going assessments of progress and create general strategies for behavior assessment.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and crisis intervention, and work to avoid coercive interventions.
  • Model direct and clear communications with peers, clients, and supervisors, encompassing cultural awareness and respectfulness of differences.
  • Establish a helping relationship with the person receiving services by demonstrating empathy, respect, and genuineness in order to build trust.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner, presenting a professional image in appearance, communications, and demeanor.
  • Adhere to Agency scheduling policy, follow program activity schedules, and commit to personal professional development.
  • Assist in gathering information about basic and community living of the person receiving services to be used in assessment process, implement designation interventions, and behavioral management programs.
  • Communicate with supervisor and established chain of command regarding daily operations and/or incidents, and document all required information in a clear, legible, timely, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to assess client's behaviors and create a specially designed treatment plan, and then implement it.
  • Demonstrate positive engagements with residents, reinforcing proactive behaviors.
  • Seek to participate in effective leadership approaches and training to enhance job skills, seeking opportunities to mentor new staff, and provide positive leadership and remain calm under pressure.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or a GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one year's relevant work experience and/or training working with adolescents and teenagers, demonstrating the ability to complete the job duties and responsibilities outlined.
  • Successful completion of the Residential Child and Youth Care Professional (RCYCP) training preferred (may be obtained through on-the-job training at the Healing Lodge at no cost to the employee).
  • Knowledge in Native American culture/spiritual traditions and practices preferred.
What We Offer
  • A competitive wage range of $20.14-$31.27 (DOE/DOQ) + $1.50 shift differential.
  • A $0.50/hr wage increase after successful completion of 90-day probationary period and incrementally after that for 24 months.
  • Full Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits after 60 days of employment (30 days for active Licensed or Certified Healthcare Professionals).
  • 403(b) Thrift Savings Plan with the HL7N maximum pension contribution of 4%, completed 12 months of employment (2,080 hrs.) and successful performance evaluation rating.
  • Healing Lodge employment may qualify for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program as well as loan repayment through Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is a growing and developing comprehensive behavioral health organization encompassing a 45-bed capacity youth (13 to 17 years of age) residential treatment facility and outpatient clinical care. Our treatment program integrates traditional, spiritual, and cultural values with substance use disorder and mental health counseling to create a holistic approach toward healing.
