Job Summary

This position serves as Chief, Lands Group for the Provo Area Office (PAO) within the U.S. Department of the Interior. The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating with various stakeholders, overseeing land purchase contracts, and facilitating Geographic Information System (GIS) efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with construction personnel, water district representatives, landowners, and utility company representatives to ensure successful land management activities.
  • Oversee the preparation of land purchase contracts, grants of easement, and other conveyance instruments to facilitate public land withdrawals.
  • Facilitate the oversight and progress on GIS efforts for the Lands Group and assist with the overall GIS program for the PAO.
  • Review License Agreement features, such as bridge crossings and pipeline crossings, for adequacy and accuracy prior to signature.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • Must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
  • Must submit a resume and supporting documentation.
  • Must meet any minimum education and/or experience requirements.
  • This is a Supervisory position and may require a Supervisory probationary period.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, the successful candidate must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. This experience must include three of the following duties: establishing and maintaining relationships, land management activities, mentoring coworkers, federal and state land laws, encroachment and/or trespass issues, and researching land documents.

Education

This position does not allow substituting education for experience.
