Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to: cleaning, feeding, providing water, administering medication, evaluating behaviors, training, socializing, and caring for all assigned animals (both dogs and cats). Daily tasks include the thorough cleaning and sanitization of cages, runs, kennels, yards, and other general maintenance duties associated with the Tulsa Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals facility. Exceptional customer service skills are essential at all times when interacting with the public. Additional job-related duties and responsibilities concerning the management and welfare of clinic animals may be assigned as needed.

This position is classified as safety-sensitive in accordance with applicable regulations, meaning employees may face disciplinary actions, including termination, if they test positive for certain substances.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee daily cleaning, feeding, watering, administering medication, evaluating behaviors, and caring for all assigned animals (dogs and cats).
  • Uphold the highest standards of customer service.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, demonstrating compassion and respect towards clients.
  • Support clinic operations
    • Ensure cleanliness and organization within the clinic.
    • Prevent the spread of disease within the clinic environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  • Daily care of clinic animals (dogs and cats) including cleaning, feeding, and watering
    • Safely move animals between different housing areas.
    • Utilize appropriate protective equipment when handling animals and cleaning agents.
  • Routine clinic cleaning
    • Includes kennels, cat rooms, break areas, laundry, bedding, crates, carriers, toys, and outdoor spaces.
    • Adhere to proper cleaning protocols, including the correct usage and ratios of cleaning products.
  • Animal Welfare Monitoring
    • Continuously monitor animals to ensure their needs are met according to established welfare standards.
    • Report any concerns regarding animal health or behavior to a supervisor.
  • Animal Transportation
    • Responsible for moving animals within the facility.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience Required

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • General knowledge of animal welfare is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Team-oriented approach is necessary.
  • Basic computer skills are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Repetitive physical activities such as bending, stooping, standing, and kneeling are required for cleaning and handling supplies/animals.
  • Must be capable of physically restraining dogs weighing over 50 lbs.
  • Noise levels in animal care areas may vary.

SCHEDULE

This is a part-time position with a variable schedule. Shift changes may be necessary, and work on holidays or overtime may be required.
