Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to, the cleaning, feeding, watering, medicating, evaluating behaviors, training, and socializing of all assigned animals (both dogs and cats). Daily tasks include the thorough cleaning and sanitization of cages, runs, kennels, yards, and other general maintenance duties associated with the facility. Exceptional customer service skills are essential when interacting with the public. Additional job-related duties and responsibilities concerning the management and welfare of the clinic animals may be assigned.

This position is classified as safety-sensitive in accordance with relevant legislation, meaning employees may face disciplinary actions, including termination, if they test positive for certain substances.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee daily cleaning, feeding, watering, medicating, and care of all assigned animals (dogs and cats).
  • Uphold the highest standards of customer service, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times while being compassionate and respectful to clients.
  • Assist in the clinic's operations, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness to prevent disease spread.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  • Conduct daily cleaning, feeding, and watering of all clinic animals (dogs and cats), including moving animals between housing locations and using appropriate protective equipment.
  • Perform comprehensive cleaning of the clinic, including kennels, cat rooms, breakrooms, laundry, bedding, crates, carriers, toys, and yards, following proper cleaning procedures.
  • Monitor the welfare of clinic animals to ensure that their needs are met, reporting any concerns to a supervisor.
  • Transport animals as needed within the facility.

  • Ability to perform under pressure.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience Required

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • General knowledge of animal welfare is beneficial.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Basic computer skills are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Repetitive movements such as bending, stooping, standing, and kneeling are required for cleaning and lifting animals/supplies.
  • Must be capable of physically restraining dogs weighing over 50 lbs.
  • Noise levels in kennel areas may vary.

SCHEDULE

This is a part-time position with a variable schedule. Shift changes may be necessary, including work on holidays and potential overtime.
