Job Summary:

This role will support the financial aspects of a large, multi-business unit manufacturing and distribution facility. Key responsibilities include performing cost accounting, inventory analysis, budgeting, quarterly plan reviews, and general accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote a safety culture and awareness within your area of responsibility.
  • Support plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in annual plant budget preparation and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Assist department managers with data collection and analysis.
  • Consolidate overhead spending and review purchase prices for direct manufacturing costs.
  • Notify corporate of purchasing changes exceeding 10%.
  • Conduct month-end closing activities with department managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Execute SAP month-end closing, including error elimination and settlement.
  • Prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Assist with monthly cost reports, including overhead and DMC spending and analysis.
  • Prepare variance analysis between planned and actual spend and efficiencies.
  • Establish and monitor labor and utility costs in WIP inventory.
  • Maintain costing systems and input data into SAP as needed.
  • Prepare and coordinate disposal requisitions for non-conforming or obsolete inventory, equipment, and raw materials.
  • Analyze labor hours and dollars by functional area, including full-time and temporary employees.
  • Monitor hourly benefits liability estimates and allocation of actual costs.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts.
  • Participate in MRO cycle count process and perform inventory reserve calculations.
  • Prepare, analyze, and review cost data in support of department managers.
  • Review BOMs for price/quantity variance issues.
  • Lead plant cost savings initiatives, including idea generation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Adhere to Corporate Accounting requirements, practices, and policies.
  • Promote fair and consistent adherence to local and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Foster and maintain good employee relations through effective communication and positive employee relations practices.
Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media.
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience in SAP PP/PC systems preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
  • Basic working knowledge of manufacturing and distribution operations.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous Cost Accounting/Financial Management experience in a fast-paced, multi-business unit manufacturing environment preferred.
