About the Role

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Quantitative Derivative Portfolio Manager to join our team at MassMutual. As a key member of our Quantitative Portfolio Management (QPM) team, you will play a critical role in the management of derivative portfolios, supporting the development of quantitative strategies and contributing to the research of alternative hedging techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management: Support the management of derivative portfolios, including daily portfolio management activities such as risk review, trade input, attribution, profit and loss analysis, and lifecycle management.
  • Market Analysis: Identify market opportunities, analyze alternative hedging strategies, and suggest transactions to increase hedge effectiveness for portfolio management.
  • Research and Development: Develop bespoke simulation, back-testing, and other research projects to support the development of quantitative strategies.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues in other areas of MassMutual, including enterprise risk, corporate actuarial, finance, and accounting, as needed.
Requirements
  • Derivative Market Experience: 5+ years of experience in derivative markets, including listed and OTC equity options, TRS, futures/forwards, CDX, interest rate swaps/swaptions, and cross-currency swaps.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Math, Financial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Quantitative Degree: Advanced quantitative degree (MFE, PhD) in a related field.
  • Strong Quantitative Expertise: Strong background in statistics, mathematics, and computer science, with proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Portfolio Management Experience: Experience in portfolio management and asset-liability management (ALM) in a life insurance company.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical topics with non-experts.
