Job Summary:
This is a limited duration position anticipated to last 24 months, though may be extended or decreased due to business need. Internal candidates may be considered as a job rotation with their current manager's approval.
About the Role:
This position is responsible for designing, constructing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining the routers, switches, modems, LANs, and WANs within the department. You will work on an enterprise level supporting other state agencies who connect to the Department of Corrections WAN to partner with our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement network infrastructure solutions
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices
- Ensure network security and integrity
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure best business practices
- Continuously modernize and optimize the department's technology
Requirements:
- Six (6) years of information systems experience in network engineering
- OR
- An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND
- four (4) years of information systems experience in network engineering
- OR
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND
- two (2) years of information systems experience in network engineering
- OR
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
Preferred Skills:
- Cisco switches
- Cisco Wireless Controllers
- Fortigate Firewalls
- Strategic planning of LANs, WANs, and network security
- Network operations and integration
- Network troubleshooting and monitoring
Working Conditions:
Working in a standard office environment with extended use of computers and other office technology. Use of video meeting software. Contact with adults in custody. Some travel may be necessary within the state.

The Oregon Department of Corrections is responsible for over 12,000 Adults in Custody in 12 state prisons throughout Oregon. It advises and evaluates counties regarding administration of probation and parole programs supervising more than 24,000 offenders in Oregon communities. Requirements for Employment:
You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
