About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Port of Seattle as a Carpenter Lock and Security Supervisor. As a key member of our Marine Maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing direct leadership and supervision for all work activities within the Carpenter Lock Shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide direct leadership and supervision for all work activities within the Carpenter Lock Shop, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Lock and Key Management: Manage and maintain locksets throughout Port of Seattle facilities, including offices, parks, and terminals.
  • Team Management: Brief and supervise your team, perform day-to-day tasks required in the shop, and oversee on-site activities to ensure safe work practices.
  • Technology and Data Management: Operate computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) software, including Maximo, Keystone, Quantum Secure, and SharePoint, to track and manage keys distributed to all personnel.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and stakeholders, and build relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Solve problems and make decisions that positively impact your team, customers, stakeholders, and the organization.
Requirements
  • Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible journey-level carpentry experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Technical knowledge of construction methods and materials, working knowledge of Windows-based computers and related accessories, time tracking software, keyboarding and data input skills, and electronic mail software.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Develop, motivate, and lead effective teams, coordinate activities for direct reports and others, and build trust and respect with a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Decision-Making and Problem-Solving: Understand how to balance emotion with reason, make decisions that positively impact your team, customers, stakeholders, and the organization, and solve problems effectively.
