Job Summary:

As a Maintenance Technician with Houghton-Portage Township Schools, you will play a vital role in ensuring the day-to-day operations of our school district facilities run smoothly. This is a year-round, full-time union position that requires a high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings, equipment, and school grounds while adhering to state regulations under the direction of the Maintenance Director.

• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following safety protocols and procedures.

• Operate heavy equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks.

• Collaborate with the Maintenance Director to prioritize tasks and ensure efficient use of resources.

• Develop and implement strategies to improve maintenance processes and reduce costs.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Excellent driving record and ability to pass a physical, including a drug test.

• Ability to obtain a Certified Pool Operator certificate (CPO).

• Heavy equipment maintenance and repair knowledge preferred.

• Ability to handle physical demands of the job.

• Self-motivated with good work ethic and ability to prioritize tasks.

• Must complete and pass a criminal history background check according to applicable laws and school board policies.

• Related experience in the area of employment preferred.
