Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at Houghton-Portage Township Schools. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our school district facilities, including maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings, equipment, and school grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct inspections and identify potential issues to prevent equipment failure and ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts and generators, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Director to develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; related experience preferred.
  • Excellent driving record and ability to pass a physical, including a drug test.
  • Able to obtain a Certified Pool Operator certificate (CPO).
  • Heavy equipment maintenance and repair knowledge preferred.
  • Able to handle physical demands of the job.
  • Self-motivated with good work ethic and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must complete and pass a criminal history background check according to applicable laws and school board policies.
