Job Description
We are seeking a caring and dedicated Resident Support Specialist to join our team. As a Resident Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing direct resident care under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel. Your primary duties will include:
- Providing personal care to residents daily and as needed, including grooming, bathing, dressing, and oral care.
- Changing bed linen and maintaining appropriate grooming supplies in resident rooms on a regular basis.
- Ambulating and transferring residents using assistive devices and body mechanics.
- Recording resident vital signs, weights, and measurements, intake and output, food consumption, and other assigned information.
- Observing residents carefully and reporting changes in condition to Charge Nurses.
- Recognizing resident autonomy and supporting choices within the caregiving environment.
- Participating in collecting data for MDS and plan of care, providing input to nurses for development.
- Providing adequate hydration to residents at regular intervals based on individual needs.
- Preparing residents for meals, transporting them to the dining room, and ensuring food trays are accessible and assistance is provided as needed.
- Maintaining accurate records of food intake and output, as directed.
- Maintaining established housekeeping standards within assigned areas.
- Promptly responding to call lights and other resident needs.
- Attending in-service education programs to meet facility educational requirements.
- Fostering teamwork with coworkers, showing initiative in overcoming obstacles, and taking actions that assist others beyond job responsibilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful as a Resident Support Specialist, you should possess:
- Compassion for and desire to work with seniors.
- No previous experience required; two years' experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and knowledge of various computer programs, including Microsoft Office and web-based software systems.

Working Conditions
This role requires standing, walking, use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, up to 50 pounds, vision due to computer work, interaction with coworkers, residents, or vendors, occasional weekend, holiday, evening, or night work if needed, and possible exposure to communicable diseases and infections.
