Overview of the Graduate Landscape Designer Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Graduate Landscape Designer to join our Minnetonka, Minnesota Land Development team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc.

The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in landscape architecture or a related field, with 0-4 years of professional experience. The role will involve working collaboratively with a team of professionals, including landscape architects, civil engineers, planners, surveyors, environmental scientists, and transportation engineers.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design and Graphic Production: Create technical documents and deliverables related to planning and landscape architecture services using illustration, design, and CAD standards established by the group.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Review and interpret regulatory codes, ordinances, and comprehensive plans to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Site Analysis and Design: Conduct site analysis and tree surveys to inform design decisions and develop creative, sound solutions to problems.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Participate in project meetings, consult with clients and regulatory agencies, and work closely with the senior project team to ensure successful project outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of AutoCAD/FX, Sketch-up, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Geographic Information System (GIS).
  • Illustration and Rendering: Strong freehand illustration and computer rendering skills.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to self-regulate multiple assignments and deadlines.
