Campus Safety Specialist

This position is responsible for overseeing and implementing university safety and security policies to create a safe and secure environment for the university community. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing and strengthening relationships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders through providing exemplary customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct general security patrols on campus and at events, reporting emergencies to university, city, or state officials as needed.
- Assist with Safe Walks, extra patrol requests, building lockouts, and on-call notifications.
- Enforce university alcohol policies and monitor access control, checking credentials, tickets, and enforcing clear bag requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work a non-standard schedule to meet department needs.
- One year of experience as a safety/security officer preferred.
The successful candidate must be able to move around and between venues throughout the workday, carry, lift, or move items weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally, and work in inclement weather conditions.
