Campus Safety and Security Officer

Position Overview
This role is pivotal in managing and executing safety and security protocols within the university environment, ensuring a secure atmosphere for all members of the university community during regular operations and special events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine security patrols across campus and during events, reporting any emergencies to the appropriate authorities.
- Assist with safety escorts, additional patrol requests, building access issues, and emergency notifications.
- Enforce university policies regarding alcohol consumption.
- Monitor access points, verify credentials, check tickets, and enforce clear bag policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- Proficient in using various computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet tools.
- Experience working collaboratively in a team setting to achieve common objectives.
- Ability to adhere to established policies and procedures.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate departmental needs.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and compliance with university vehicle operation policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with safety and security operations and best practices.
- One year of experience in a safety or security role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to navigate various campus environments throughout the workday.
- Capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Comfortable with bending, stooping, and working at heights.
- Ability to traverse diverse terrains including asphalt, sidewalks, grass, and dirt.
- Capacity to sit and stand for extended periods and work in varying weather conditions.
Employment Details:
This position is classified as non-exempt and offers a competitive pay rate, commensurate with experience. Full-time employment status is available, and visa sponsorship is an option for qualified candidates.
