Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Position Overview:
As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will conduct patient assessments across various laboratory sectors, including coagulation, urinalysis, serology, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood banking. Your analytical skills will be essential in aiding healthcare professionals in the identification, diagnosis, and management of medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and interpret quality control measures, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Collect blood samples through venipuncture or capillary methods and prepare specimens for both internal and external analysis.
- Generate and manage patient reports while providing administrative support in the reception area.
- Engage in policy evaluations, corrective actions, and inventory management as necessary.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
Must possess a valid certification in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technician, or have completed a Bachelor's/Associates degree in relevant programs. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the initial employment period.
Experience:
Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Physical Requirements:
- Lifting: Occasionally lift up to 44 lbs.
- Transfers: Monthly assistance required for transferring patients.
- Push/Pull: Moderate force needed for laboratory equipment.
- Carrying: Transport phlebotomy trays over distances.
- Fine Motor Skills: High precision required for laboratory tasks.
- Standing/Sitting: Prolonged periods of standing and sitting required.
- Kneeling/Crawling: Minimal time spent in these positions.
- Climbing: Occasional climbing required.
Environmental Considerations:
- Work primarily indoors with constant exposure to wet conditions, laboratory noise, and biohazardous materials.
- Required protective gear includes laboratory coats, gloves, safety goggles, and closed-toed shoes.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to OSHA regulations, classified as Class I High Risk, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff and patients.
