Job Summary:

The Arizona Official Website of State of Arizona is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal III to provide support for one or more Assistant Attorneys General by assessing and managing cases, evaluating and interpreting arrears calculations, assessing and preparing case files for court hearings and following through with post-hearing work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document case-related activity into the automated case management system (AZCares).
  • Prepare cases and pleadings, respond to issues, support litigation and respond to public inquiries.
  • Comply with all laws, rules, office policies and procedures applicable to the performance of the job.
  • Perform legal and case-related research, draft motions and legal memoranda and perform additional tasks as assigned by supervising personnel.
  • Review, create and process materials and information that are confidential by Federal and State Laws.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable statutes, rules and regulations of state and federal courts.
  • Knowledge of legal research techniques, terminology, forms, court procedures and applicable time frames in general.
  • Extensive knowledge of court procedures and federal rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques common to a modern law office.
  • Skills in written and oral communication.
  • Skills in dealing with the public.
  • Skills in coordinating legal requests, inquiries and responses expeditiously.
  • Skills in conducting and controlling interviews with parties involved in legal actions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years full-time employment as a paralegal.
  • A Baccalaureate degree in any area plus a paralegal certification through an institutionally accredited program and one year of full-time employment as a paralegal.
