Budget Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Budget Manager to join our team at Binghamton University. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Budget Director with the execution and development of all campus budget matters.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, and 3-5 years of related experience. They will also have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to develop, evaluate, and present datasets to management.

The Budget Manager will be responsible for providing supportive leadership and coordination services for all university-wide program operations, as well as supervising Budget Analysts and ensuring proper training, professional development, and workload distribution.

Key responsibilities will include assisting departments with budget projections and spending plan execution, ensuring compliance with SUNY and campus policies, and working with staff to ensure accurate projections of upcoming contractual salary increase payments.

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical, organizational, and technological skills, and the ability to work independently and use initiative to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and present datasets to management
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and technological skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, use initiative, follow through, and complete tasks in a timely manner

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience in a SUNY or Higher Education financial environment
  • Experience working in a large complex organization
  • Experience with Business Intelligence reporting tools
