Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a pivotal role in overseeing projects from the initial bidding phase through to scheduling, monitoring, and project closeout. This position is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of multiple projects simultaneously. APMs are expected to spend a significant amount of time in the office while coordinating site visits and meetings as necessary. Effective communication with clients and collaboration with contractors, designers, and owners regarding project costs, staffing, and schedules are essential responsibilities. The APM will report directly to the Project Management Office Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role includes matrixed supervisory responsibilities for Assistant Project Engineers and Project Engineers. Key supervisory duties encompass training and mentoring team members, planning and delegating tasks, evaluating performance, and addressing team-related concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain precise records of project management activities, timelines, and expenditures.
  • Prepare and distribute essential tracking documents, including status reports and schedules, to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings with contractors, clients, and A/E representatives to ensure seamless coordination of design and construction efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to uphold job site safety standards and rectify any deficiencies.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the PMO Director and Executive Staff.
  • Interpret and integrate specifications and drawings into project progress assessments.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to drawing interpretations, conflicts, and errors.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of contracts and proactively manage changes.
  • Prepare progress payment documentation and secure necessary approvals.
  • Establish and maintain client communication plans through various channels.
  • Compile and present required reports to management on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Document and distribute meeting minutes to all project stakeholders.
  • Monitor and approve back charges, billing, and budget allocations.
  • Ensure project plan modifications are communicated effectively to team members.
  • Prepare and send delay notifications to relevant parties as per contract stipulations.
  • Update manpower and unit projections and communicate them appropriately.
  • Document project goals and ensure they are communicated to the project team.
  • Work with clients and superintendents to develop and implement effective action plans for time, budget, and process management.
  • Authorize payments to suppliers and subcontractors and relay information to accounting.
  • Analyze and resolve construction process challenges while maintaining effective communication with all personnel levels.

Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year in the construction field or related area preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, in-house position with a standard work schedule. The salary range is competitive and commensurate with experience, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan.
