Job Summary:

Campus Safety Officers are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment on campus. They provide assistance to students, staff, and visitors, and respond to emergencies and incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a visible presence on campus and respond to emergencies and incidents.
  2. Assist students, staff, and visitors with their needs and provide information about campus policies and procedures.
  3. Monitor campus facilities and report any safety or security concerns.
  4. Assist with the administration of college policies and regulations.
  5. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  3. Must pass a complete personal and criminal background check.
  4. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate cars and 15-passenger vans.
  5. Must be able to walk stairs and conduct prolonged foot patrol indoors and out in all weather conditions.
  6. Must be able to assist with the rescue of injured or ill persons or the arrest of criminal offenders.
  7. Must be willing to work varying shifts at all Joliet Junior College campuses.
  8. Must be able to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
  2. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

Selection Process:

  1. Candidates must submit a written application and attend an oral interview if invited.
  2. A background check is required by law.

Strenuous walking, standing, lifting, and or climbing.

Working Conditions:

Duties are performed outdoors in varying climate conditions and may be subjected to adverse and hazardous conditions.
