Position Overview:

This full-time role (80 hours biweekly) involves evening shifts from 3 pm to 11 pm, including every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial evaluations and assessments, providing clinical supervision and facilitating the admissions process.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding both internal and external services.
  • Manage security and patient behavioral situations, offering crisis intervention support.
  • Prioritize service requests based on urgency and document all interactions using computerized systems.
  • Maintain an understanding of insurance and managed care processes, completing necessary pre-certifications and authorizations.
  • Utilize structured interview techniques to perform comprehensive clinical assessments, documenting findings with approved evaluation forms.
  • Assess and determine the appropriate level of care based on client history, psychosocial factors, and clinical presentation.
  • Guide clients and their families in completing required documentation and provide necessary witness signatures.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth transitions for clients into appropriate programs, including participation in necessary conference calls.
  • Engage with clients and families while respecting confidentiality and being sensitive to their emotional states.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with initial patient assessments, including dictation of assessment activities.
  • Complete all documentation required for treatment authorization by third-party payers.
  • Facilitate referrals to other levels of care or services as needed.
  • Coordinate care with other providers or agencies involved in the patient’s treatment.
  • Support counselors in problem-solving to navigate challenging situations.
  • Stay informed about community resources and provide relevant information to clients.
  • Act as the first point of contact for internal emergencies and administrative issues, directing concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Conduct security rounds and maintain awareness of campus safety issues.
  • Understand and apply WellSpan Philhaven's admission criteria and mental health legal requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of behavioral management techniques and assist during behavioral emergencies.
  • Complete training as a designated Mental Health Delegate for involuntary commitments as necessary.
  • Provide telephone crisis services when primary counselors are unavailable.
  • Perform security and safety duties in accordance with established guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychology, social work, or a related field.

Driver's License Requirement:

A valid driver's license in the current state of residence is required, with a driving record that meets WellSpan Risk Management standards.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and listening, to effectively manage patient interactions.
  • Ability to provide counsel on sensitive matters and act in a public relations capacity.
  • Analytical skills to determine appropriate responses to crisis situations.
  • Visual acuity to review and prepare documentation and observe patient behavior.
  • Knowledge of patient care across all age groups, considering the unique needs of each demographic.
