POSITION OVERVIEW
The hourly compensation for this role is $20.00.

The Sales Consultant at the Spice Island Marketplace is tasked with delivering an exceptional shopping experience by offering outstanding customer service, employing effective sales strategies, and sharing comprehensive product knowledge in a specialized retail setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborates with the Store Manager to ensure the monthly staffing schedule meets operational needs.

• Provides orientation and training for new hires, covering store protocols, product knowledge, and the proper handling of specialized merchandise.

• Educates staff on the Point-of-Sale (POS) system and cash management procedures.
• Aids the Store Manager in the training of the Student Concierge Team.
• Works alongside the Store Manager to guarantee that daily cleaning and restocking tasks are executed.
• Welcomes customers to the store with enthusiasm, embodying the hospitality ethos.
• Identifies and understands customer needs through open-ended inquiries.
• Articulates product features and benefits, tailoring responses to individual customer requirements.
• Utilizes sales techniques to suggest additional products, enhancing the shopping experience.
• Maintains a CIA-provided cash drawer, adhering to cash handling policies to minimize errors during transactions.
• Ensures accurate POS pricing and proper charging for all items sold. Packages merchandise carefully to prevent damage when necessary.
• Follows up on customer inquiries and requests as needed.
• Regularly communicates customer feedback to store management regarding their experiences with the store and products.

• Assists in the daily stocking and restocking of merchandise throughout the store, including trips to the storage area.

• Upholds the cleanliness and organization of the store.
• Conducts tours of the Greystone Experience.
• Provides coverage for the Greystone Cellars Wine Bar as required.
• Engages in packing shipments and receiving merchandise as needed.
• Performs any additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

Experience:
• At least two (2) years of experience in retail sales.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
• Previous experience in selling kitchenware, dinnerware, cutlery, kitchen appliances, or bakeware products.

SKILLS REQUIRED
• Exceptional customer service abilities.
• Must exhibit a high level of energy and self-motivation.
• Strong communication skills are essential. Must demonstrate proficiency in organizational, time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable and reliable.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks and demands.
• Must be able to familiarize oneself with the products offered and their applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Must be available to work at both locations of the CIA California Campus.
• Flexible scheduling is required, including availability for overtime on nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business needs.

• Regular duties involve significant climbing, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, and stretching for up to eight (8) hours daily.

• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
