About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-time Shelter Advocate to join our team at the Norma Herr Women's Center. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our shelter guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate meal services and facilitate life skill programs to support the needs of our guests.
  • Conduct after-hours screening and intake for guests in need, utilizing trauma-informed approaches to provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support.
  • Participate in daily shift reports and data collection activities to contribute to the continuous improvement of our services.
  • Collaborate with staff to foster a safe and supportive environment for all shelter guests and staff.
Requirements
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with shelter guests using a trauma-informed approach.
  • Strong organizational abilities to complete daily shift notes and participate in shift report meetings effectively.
  • Proficiency in facilitating on-site meal distribution, laundry services, and life skill programming.
  • Ability to support shelter guests in accessing telephone and mail services.
