Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Internal Auditor/Analyst II to join our team at the Auditor/Controller Office in Ventura. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing complex performance and compliance audits, analyzing financial records, and providing recommendations for improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct audits in a timely, independent, and objective manner, ensuring optimal communication with stakeholders.
  • Plan and develop audit scope, including rationale, overall objective, audit standards, and sampling methodology.
  • Conduct audit field work, analyzing financial records, operating procedures, management practices, and program performance.
  • Prepare and submit audit findings, documenting unfavorable findings in work papers and preparing written reports of audit findings and recommendations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 18 semester units of college-level accounting, business, and/or business-related coursework.
  • Two years of progressively responsible professional auditing, compliance, or related analytical experience, or one year of experience as an Internal Auditor/Analyst I in the County of Ventura.
  • Professional level auditing experience may be substituted for up to two years of undergraduate education on a year-for-year basis, provided the candidate possesses at least 18 semester units of college-level accounting and/or business-related coursework.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced training, as evidenced by a Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
